2019-20 International Student Scholarship Recipients!

Our Board is incredibly proud to announce the recipients of our 2019-20 International Student Program Scholarships!

Top International Student at Each Secondary School
Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to one International Student at each secondary school who has the highest academic average (85% or higher) from among all International Students at the school in their graduating year. Additionally, the Top International Student scholarship recipient must be involved in extra-curricular activities within their school community.

Mao (Yilin) Feng
Assumption CSS

“Mao is a kind and creative individual who respects the dignity of all. She is an effective communicator who speaks, writes and listens honestly and sensitively, responding critically in light of gospel values. She was involved in Art Club, and was a Student Ambassador.”

Sky (Wenjing) Zhang
Corpus Christi CSS

“Sky was actively involved in our school community. Sky was a school visionary, ran on our Cross Country team, supported our Chaplain, read at mass, read the morning announcements, helped to support our school play, and was involved in various clubs.”

William (Youngrak) Choi
Holy Trinity CSS

“William came to us at Holy Trinity as a quiet student and he recognized himself as such. Over the past several years, he has grown out of his shell and taken on a leadership role as a Trailblazer for SHEILD at Holy Trinity, our student lead mentorship program. He has become an effective communicator and a reflective, creative thinker who makes responsible decisions with an informed moral conscience for the common good.”

Jolin (Junlin) Yang
Notre Dame CSS

“Jolin has demonstrated that she is a caring member of the Notre Dame family by tutoring younger students. Even though English is not her first language, Jolin’s communication skills in mathematics were effective in assisting her peers. She has also been a Breakfast Corner volunteer, Arts Night volunteer, and has helped with some International Student activities.”

James (Bingyang) Zhang
St. Ignatius of Loyola CSS

“James is an active member of our Student Senate, Multicultural Club, badminton team and Graduation Committee. He is a Prefect, has acted as Master of Ceremony for our Multicultural Evening and participated in our school masses. James volunteers his time to tutor with the after-school numeracy program and is a member of the school band.”

Helen (Yixuan) Xiao
St. Thomas Aquinas CSS

“Helen has contributed to our school and greater community by volunteering with the Halton Region Chinese Canadian Association, where Helen has used her artistic ability to design banners, event certificates, and posters for various events the association has hosted. She has also participated in the planning for the association’s dinners and managing the website layout.”

Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to one International Student at each elementary school that has achieved academic success, is involved in extracurricular activities in school and in the greater community, and embodies Catholic Graduate expectations.
