In alignment with the most recent communications from the Ministry of Education of Ontario, the Halton Catholic DSB has approved the continuation of synchronous/online learning for the entire 2021-2022 school year. This means that all HCDSB International Students will be able to choose to study from their home country for longer than previously communicated on June 1, 2021. This applies to both returning and newcomer students.
Students still have the option to choose in-person learning. If you choose in-person learning, you are required to attend classroom instruction by the beginning of quadmester 2 (November 15, 2021). This implies that if you are currently living outside of Canada you must book your return flight to Canada no later than October 30, 2021, to allow for the possibility of a Federal Government mandated 14-day quarantine. Please inform International Student Program (ISP) staff if you will be delaying your return to Canada and therefore choosing the synchronous/online learning option for quadmester one.
We will continue to keep you updated on decisions made regarding the synchronous/online learning option as we receive additional updates. The Halton Catholic DSB readiness plan approved by the Ministry of Education of Ontario will remain in effect until the current border restrictions and quarantine requirement are lifted. Please contact ISP@hcdsb.org if you have any questions about the return to Canada requirements.
